LAURA Day had a brilliant win when Evesham staged their Lisa Lightfoot Salver and Rose Bowl competitions.

After recently returning from a successful season in Australia, Laura won both trophies from Jenny Mars-ton and Verity Lawrance respectively.

The club's junior section secured a good win over leaders Kings Norton to consolidate second place in the Midland League.

Fielding a young side, including two girls, the Evesham youngsters showed just how well they could play against more experienced opponents to record a 2-1 victory.

The return match is at Kings Norton on Sunday.

BROADWAY'S Mart-land Alliance, a ladies four-ball betterball competition off three quarters' handicap, saw the final result decided on a countback.

Winning on the back nine were Jenny Brotherton and Alma Harrison (net 69), ahead of Henrietta Cooke and Sue Byrd and Joan Gisbourne and Stella Stacey.
