ARTHRITIS RESEARCH CAMPAIGN: Pershore branch - the garden party held last Saturday at Upper Brookend Court, Kempsey was a tremendous success, a massive £650 was taken. This will help boosts funds greatly and thanks goes to all who attended, and also to the helpers and the host and hostess who so generously gave access to their wonderful gardens for the event.

READY STEADY ROW - GARDEN PARTY: The mayor and mayoress of Pershore councillor John Grantham and Mrs Sheila Grantham have organised a garden party, supported by the Rotary Club of Pershore. The afternoon is being held on Saturday, July 28, between 2-4pm, at the Vicarage Garden, near the Abbey, Pershore, and the proceeds are in aid of St Richard's Hospice. St Richard's Hospice volunteer, Richard Wood and his boat, 'The Spirit of Worcestershire' will also be attending. Richard is entering the Ward Evans Atlantic Challenge Race. A few other 'surprise guests' (not Father Christmas) will also be attending and all in all it promises to be an excellent afternoon.

PERSHORE COTTAGE HOSPITAL: The Friends of Pershore Cottage Hospital have organised a buffet barbecue and jazz evening which will be held at The Star Hotel, Pershore on Saturday. Commencing at 7pm and tickets are available for the barbecue from The Star and Mrs P Freeman, telephone 01386 561591. A grand raffle will take place and tickets have sold very well, a few may still be available. The main prize a video recorder for the jazz evening. Raffle prizes have been donated by various businesses in the town, and thanks goes to all who have given donations. We all know how much we rely on Pershore Cottage Hospital so please go along and support the events.

PERSHORE FLOWER AND CRAFT: This year's Flower and Craft Show is being held at Angel Hotel Riverside Gardens on August 11. Schedules and entry forms are now available from Carlton House Coffee Shop, Bridge Street, Blue, Broad Street, Browns Ironmongers, High Street, Serendipity Florists, High Street, and the Town Council Office in Bridge Street, Pershore. Entries are now welcome.

RIVERSIDE FESTIVAL 2001: The fifth annual Riverside Festival is being held on Sunday. The festival is held down by the River Avon and during the last four years the festival has been a great success, attracting both the young and the older members of the community. The festival has rapidly become one of the main attractions in July. The main attraction being the Dragon Boat Racing and if you have always wanted to have a go at Dragon Boat Racing then please apply for an application form on 01905 356628 or email Dragon@Madasafish.com or further information regarding setting up teams etc. During the festival there will be music workshops, face painting, archery and bouncy castles, plus lots more interesting activities. Brand new this year are five-a-side football matches on a bouncy castle, just to add a little extra to the events.

HERITAGE AND HISTORY SOCIETY: The next monthly meeting will be held at 7.30pm on July 5 at Wulstan Hall, Priest Lane, Pershore. The subject of the illustrated talk is 'Historical Aspects of Photography' by Mr K Godfrey. Tea/coffee is available, raffle. Admission is free to members, £1 for visitors. Everyone welcome. There will be no August meeting.

U3A - UNIVERSITY OF THE 3RD AGE: An organisation for retired people, the U3A offers all older people a variety of opportunities to use their knowledge, skills and experience etc to acquire new ones in an informal friendly atmosphere. Introductory open meeting to be held July 11 at 2pm in the committee room at Wychavon Civic Centre, Pershore.
