A NIGHTCLUB has closed its doors in Kidderminster and is set for a "radical" re-launch this summer under a new manager.

Luminar Leisure Ltd, which owns Time nightclub in Blackwell Street, blamed a shift by customers to other parts of the town centre for a fall-off in trade leading to its closure on June 16.

Steve Dennis, director of Luminar, said the company had closed the premises for a "short period" while the new manager drew up plans for the re-launch.

He told the Shuttle/Times & News: "In recent months there has been a customer shift across town and Time has found itself isolated.

"A new, experienced manager has been appointed who has radical, new ideas and who has been successful in generating new customer bases at other Luminar venues.

He added: "He is currently planning a new programme with imaginative themes and musical styles. This will be re-launched and re-promoted in the near future."

Mr Dennis said all full-time staff would keep their jobs and those on short-term working would be able to re-apply for their positions.

He added he hoped the launch would prove successful and lead to the creation of new jobs.

Time opened in August 1997 following a £1 million refit of the former Flirtz club with the aim of attracting 850 capacity crowds.
