A FRIEND of a "wildcat" schoolgirl who was locked up for terrorising a Worcester estate has been placed on a supervision order for assaulting three police officers.

Droitwich magistrates heard how the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, lashed out at the officers as they tried to arrest a mutual friend for abusive behaviour.

The teenager is friends with two 14-year-old girls, one of whom was dubbed a wildcat by police, who were locked up for eight months earlier in June.

Shermila Dugal, prosecuting, told magistrates that officers followed the teenager and one of the detained girls, who also cannot be identified, as they rode unlit bikes along Worcester's Bilford Road on Tuesday, May 29, at 10.55pm.

She said the girls alighted from their bikes after officers had asked them to as it was dark, but then got back on and rode off.

When the police caught up with the girls they came under verbal and physical abuse.

The 15-year-old admitted that she assaulted the officers, but Richard Wilkes, defending, said the incident was "out of character" for the girl, adding that she was only trying to help her friend.

"She felt her friend was being picked on," he said.

"Looking back on what she's done, she's very remorseful and sorry.

''She felt the police were being unfair on her friend and lashed out."

Magistrates gave the teenager a six-month supervision order and ordered her to pay £75 compensation and £55 costs.
