REDDITCH Arrows are bidding to cause one of the biggest shocks in British-based American Football on Sunday when they tackle East Kilbride Pirates.

Team manager Chris Halford saw his side stay on course for a hoped-for 4-4 record with a comprehensive 34-8 win at Nottingham Caesars on Sunday.

Halford is hoping a 4-4 record could be enough to earn the newly-promoted side a wild card into the play-offs.

He has targeted home and away matches against Caesars and Cheshire Romans for the required wins and says a result against East Kilbride would send shockwaves through the sport.

"They are a very very strong side," said Halford, "we will give it our best shot and it will be a good measure of how far we have come but we are not banking on a win."

East Kilbride effectively function as the Scottish national side, supply a quarter of the British side with players and have a number of professionals who play for the Scottish Claymores in Europe.

They are used as a development club for the professional side and are heavily funded by the Claymores.

"It would be a bit like Walsall beating Manchester United," added Halford.

Arrows will be without a couple of regulars through work commitments for the clash at Kings Norton Rugby Club on Sunday (ko 2.30pm).

Against Nottingham, another excellent performance by the Arrows defense was the foundation for Redditch's victory with the offense running in five touchdowns and conceding just one.

There were three touchdowns from Anthony Perkins with the other scores coming from a Pete Morgan's 28-yard reception and a Dave Mills effort.

On Offense, Anthony Perkins ran for 107 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns.

The pick of the defense was Chris Cunnane with six unassisted and two assisted tackles and one sack. Martin Hill, Richard Wilby and Richard Frazer also impressed.
