WOODLANDS View owner Mike Mason and his son, Adrian, have taken over control of Alvechurch Fisheries from this Sunday and will be sponsored by Tek Neek and Trabucco Tackle.

Mike has spent the last two months rebuilding the arrow pool and restocking it. It now has 40 pegs, restocking has also been done to the 50-peg horseshoe pool. The 22-peg specimen lake will now be called Bittle Pool.

The toilets have been renovated and a snack bar and mini tackle shop is also on site.

Day tickets for the fishery are £5 (£4 concessions), half day for all from 2pm is £3.50.

All open matches will have a price tag of £12 plus £1 optional bonus peg.

Starlets veterans secretary Mike Taylor, from Northfield, won their latest club event on Tuesday on the Moorlands Farm Silver Fish Pool.

Mike pole fished maggots over caster feed at peg for 29-0-0 of bream and chub.

Ken Giles (Alvechurch) had to settle for second place with 21-4-0 and Pat Kavanagh (Stourbridge) was third with 19-14-0.

At Woodlands View, the Tuesday affordable open was won by canal expert Norman Carpenter (Map Starlets) with a pole, worm and caster catch of 62-14-0 from Deans Pool peg 55, second Paul Foster (Foster MG) 60-13-0, third Pete Randle (Map Starlets) 50-6-0.

On Wednesday, Woodlands View hosted round two of the Preston Innovations UK Championships which saw the £1,000 first prize going to Steve Saunders for a 93-8-0 carp haul taken with pole fished various baits from Arles Pool peg 18.

Klaus Fix (Trabucco) followed with 55-2-0, third Andy Findway (Preston Innovations) 54-4-0.

Astwood Fisheries Bluebell Pool open saw modest catches recorded.

Birmingham angler John Worrall (Moseley) finally made it over the winning line after many near misses with a 10-6-0 catch taken with pole and maggots from peg five, second Paul Webley (Kateshill AC) 16-2-0, third Jim Kearley (Astwood) 12-7-0.

The Starlets Veterans ventured further afield on Thursday to Poole Hall between Kiddermin-ster and Bridgnorth to hold a contest on the Kingfisher Pool which gave disappointing catches.

Top rod was Roger Banfield (Bewdley) who pole fished red maggots in the margins for a 9-13-0 mixed catch, second place went to Pat Kavanagh (Stourbridge) with 7-14-0, Clive Humphries (Bewdley) was third with 6-9-0.

At Moorlands Farm the special open was finished on the bank and moors pools with Chris Haile (Barford) taking a top catch of 60-13-0 with pole, corn and meat from bank peg nine. Second Darren Clewley (Wesson) 44-10-0, third Paul Foster (Fosters MG) 44-7-0.

On Saturday the Woodlands View Double Header day and evening open saw Mick Denton (Oxford Drennan) take a perfect 20-point total - with the daytime yielding 43-0-0 and the evening 80-2-0 - to claim the crown.

Richard O'Connor (Keenets NW) took first place in the am event with 46-4-0 from Deans Pool peg 61.

Kevin Slade (AOK) was top man in the pm match with 90-10-0 from Deans 21.

On Sunday, 70 anglers took part in the Woodlands View Open which was topped by Paul Newman (Morgans) with the best catch of the week - 144-0-0 of carp from the High Pool peg 12, with short pole and big cubes of meat.

Kevin Slade (AOK) followed with 81-0-0, third Paul Jarram (Daiwa Trentman) 65-4-0.

Wyre Forest Fishery Furnace Mill saw some very good catches, headed by Warren Blizzard (MN Autos) who alternated worm and cat meat at Mucky Meadow pool peg 32 for 86-8-0. Second Jez Williams (Strettons) 70-12-0, third Paul Cook (Marks Tackle) 60-4-0, fourth Tony Delves (Ovation Leisure) 46-4-0.

At Astwood Fishery, the Buddleia Pool Open was won by Brian Goodchild (Austin Sports) with a waggler, corn and maggot mixed catch of 21-0-0 from peg 80.

Clubmate Kevin Crowley was second with 18-8-0, third Mick Conlon (Kings Norton) 13-0-0.

Birmingham Civil Service held its biannual contest at Elmdon Pool, with Catshill's Gary Booth showing the way from peg 28 where he pole fished meat for 30-7-0, second Gary Clayton 28-12-0, third Dave Hicken 26-5-0.

The evening open at Moorlands Farm was a big scoring event for John Mottershead (Trentside) who took a ton up catch of 111-7-0 with pole, worm and casters from Meadow Pool peg 54, second place went to Dan Ashington (Moor-lands) with 82-7-0, third Gary Clarke (Alvechurch) 66-15-0.
