KIDDERMINSTER Cricket Club are waiting anxiously on the fitness of Worcestershire's wicket-keeper Steve Rhodes.

Mark Mansell's men entertain mid-table Walsall on Saturday (1pm) with a win required to move away from the Birmingham and District Premier League relegation zone.

Kidderminster are currently six points ahead of second-from-bottom WB Dartmouth after Saturday's loss at Knowle and Dorridge, their third of the season.

And they are hoping for the return of county second team wicket-keeper James Pipe who has been filling in for the injured Rhodes recently.

Pipe has been a big influence for Kidderminster this season, both with the bat and behind the stumps.

But Rhodes, suffering with a damaged calf muscle, is rated just 50-50 to be fit for the four-day county clash with Nottinghamshire which starts tomorrow.

His absence would deprive Kidderminster of Pipe's services on Saturday, while skipper Mansell is also hoping for the return of Worcestershire's pace bowler Chris Liptrot.

The town club produced a lacklustre display at the weekend in their seven-wicket defeat at Knowle and Dorridge with a stand between Richard Bradford (44) and Stephen Ralph (39) the highlight.
