THE myriad of practicalities that have so far prevented the birth of a worldwide currency must surely apply to the euro.
Can anyone imagine the United States relinquishing the dollar? When the German mark was a strong currency I am sure they too would not have entertained the idea.
Once again the intelligence of the electorate is being compromised with pessimistic soundbites. We are constantly toId that the pound is too strong and our reliance on Europe for trade means we must forge ahead into a European superstate.
Conversely, perhaps the euro is too weak for our pound? Could Europe survive if it cut its trading links with us, one of America's strongest allies?
