UPPER Welland downhill mountain bike racer Martyn Reelly has made a fine start to this season even though he has moved up into the Elite class by invitation.
Last year's National Series Masters 30-40 champion Martyn rode in the first round of the National Series, down Ben Nevis, and in a full field of 60 Elite riders came a creditable 25th.
Martyn said: "My ambition riding with the Elites was not to come last and I will be very pleased if I can finish in the top half."
In Elite action again last Saturday Martyn took on the breathtaking Dragon Downhill at Hay-on-Wye and performed brilliantly to take second place just less than half a second behind the winner in a time of one minute 15 seconds.
Martyn is now preparing for the European Championships to be held in Italy in two weeks time when he will return to the Masters class.
