MALVERN Olympian Ceris Gilfillan has moved up to a World cycling ranking of 16th after a string of good results.

Ceris had a busy few months at the start of the cycling season, racing in England and Europe and is currently in North America preparing for her toughest challenge.

Riding with the Lottery sponsored British National Team Ceris has been competing in the World Cup series of races which runs throughout the season, with events on most continents.

Her first outing was in Belgium where she was fifth, and then on to the toughest race of the series, Montreal Canada, where she again finished in fifth place.

Her most recent outing was in Philadelphia where she played a supporting role to a team mate who placed seventh. Sandwiched between these events were the International Tour of Mallorca, four day race, where she came third and the Women's Cycle Race Association Championships in England where she was also third.

Ceris is now preparing to ride the Hewlett Packard sponsored Women's Challenge Road Race in Idaho. This is an 11 day stage race made up out of 13 individual races and is billed as one of the toughest in the world.
