MANY issues are of concern to Worcester citizens. However, there is one that is always an issue, that of transportation.
I am concerned that we are going to see the continuing negative approach that we have seen from the Tory city administration over the last 12 months continue.
No initiatives, no ideas, no thoughts have emerged about coping with these problems. Park-and-ride in the north of the city was part of an integrated package that needs to continue, not be scorned and mocked and ridiculed.
I am a great supporter of the cyclist. But cyclists beware, your needs are being ill-considered by the Tory executive.
I exhort cyclists and would-be cyclists to follow carefully what happens in the city.
Alternative
Lack of support for environmental issues are becoming apparent, with the Tory executive's lack of interest in initiatives that promote any alternative to car transport.
Cyclists and pedestrians, along with concerned motorists need to keep pressing for a Transport strategy that has built-in alternative strategies to the car.
I hope that concerned members of the public will lobby their councillors on these issues.
I would be pleased if any cyclist who would like to raise this issue and voice their opinions would get in touch with me via Guildhall or email richard.bird2@btinternet.com
