I HAVE just returned from a few days away to read the latest ill-informed diatribe from Paul Smith against David Williams and his record on Malvern Town Council.

I have known and worked with David Williams for a long time and know only too well the effort and time that he puts in to serving the local community.

What Paul Smith fails to understand is that the 20 per cent of the electorate that demands his resignation are almost certainly not the same 20 per cent that voted for him in the first place.

In fact, they are probably the representatives of the apathetic majority that are either too lazy or bored to become involved themselves. Local politics is not an exclusive preserve - it is open to everyone.

I am not saying that Dave Williams has not made mistakes, he is only human. But Paul Smith and his kind would have a lot more credibility if they got involved themselves rather than make cheap points on the periphery.

CLIVE SMITH, Malvern Link.
