THE Green recorded their first Worcestershire County League Division Two win of the season when they beat Eastnor by four wickets in a very exciting game played at Eastnor.

EASTNOR v BARNARDS GREEN

The home side batting first lost Bollen early on dismissed by Scullion with Glendinning taking the catch behind the stumps. Fortey (20) and Irfan (15) added 27 runs before Scullion claimed them both, then Bradley Adams making his first team debut had Arshad caught by Scullion to put Eastnor at 45 for 6.

But Shahid (101) took the Green attack apart with some well timed shots to all parts of the ground. He raced to his century in just 78 balls but he was running out of partners, only Asif (24) stayed to support him and at close Eastnor were 186 all out off just 33 overs.

Ian Scullion 5-39 off 11 overs and Tim Clarke 3-40 off six overs were the pick of the Green's bowlers. Tim Williams 1-10 claimed the important wicket of Shahid.

The Green had 67 overs in which to reach their target but lost Jez Clarke early on to the hostile bowling of Shahid but a stand of 74 by Phil Divito (41) and Martin Heaton (40) put the Green in a strong position. When Divito was dismissed by Sandford they lost Tim Clarke soon afterwards to the same bowler.

It was Chris Hill (32no) who then held things together and Kevin Golder (14) and Tim Williams (14) played with great maturity to edge the Green closer to victory as both coped well with the hostile attack.

When they were dismissed David Creese joined Hill with plenty of overs left to see the Green home to a most welcome victory. At close the Green were 187-6.

Sandford (3-41) and Shahid (2-43) were the pick of the home attack.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Barnards Green visit Evesham, 2pm start.
