TAKE a chance with Orientor to upset some better-fancied rivals in the William Hill Trophy at York tomorrow.

Jim Goldie's sprinter has been a model of consistency this season, winning once and reaching the frame on his other four starts.

After an encouraging second to Needwood Blade at Doncaster on his reappearance, Orientor opened his account in great style at Redcar.

Appreciating the soft going, Goldie's colt scooted clear to score by seven lengths from Eddys Lad.

On his three starts since, all in competitive handicaps, Orientor has shown progressive form.

He followed his victory with a two-and-a-half-length fourth of 20 behind Needwood Blade at York.

And then came two good third places.

He finished one and a quarter lengths adrift of Volata in a Listed contest at Haydock and before, being touched off in a three-way photo at Newmarket earlier this month.

At Headquarters, Orientor tracked the leaders going well and, switched right over a furlong out, he ran on strongly for pressure but failed by a head and a neck to catch Palanzo and Type One.

Orientor is still improving and is made the nap selection to gain a well-deserved big-race success in tomorrow's £60,000 handicap on the Knavesmire.

Priced at around 10-1 he looks good value.

Following two sound efforts so far this term Early Morning Mist can make it third time lucky in the Daniel Prenn Royal Yorkshire Rated Stakes.

Mark Johnston's filly finished a promising one-and-a-half-length third of 20 to Reel Buddy at Newmarket last month after keeping on well in the closing stages.

That was good performance on only her third start and the daughter of Alzao again ran with distinction at Epsom last week.

Under a positive ride from Darryll Holland, she was kicked clear early in the straight. However, caught a furlong out she kept on at one pace to finish four and a quarter lengths behind the smart winner Lailani.

Early Morning Mist should now be nearing her peak and she looks a good bet to get off the mark for the campaign tomorrow.

Carnival Dancer would not have to improve too much on his fourth to Welsh Border at Newmarket last October to land the Michael Sobell Maiden Stakes.
