COULD I reply to the two writers in the Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter of June 8, who attempted to justify a ridiculously high level of support for a local dogs' home.
I could not believe that they hold such blinkered views of homeless young people. How simplistic to state that it is their own fault.
Have they ever considered that some parents often place unknown and unacceptable pressures on their own children, to such an extent that their only alternative is to move out.
Any decent society must take responsibility for these unfortunate young people, and at a higher priority than homeless dogs.
Both writers claim to know how young people become homeless, and what a simplistic list they gave. Do they ever consider how dogs become homeless?
Perhaps their moralising should be directed at irresponsible dog owners in the first place. What about a dog registration scheme that would help prevent such problems?
Meantime, I repeat my final sentence, homeless folk before homeless dogs, surely?
