I WOULD like to thank the electors of Bromsgrove Constituency for their support last Thursday.
The Liberal Democrats were the only one of the main parties to make any progress at the election, increasing the overall vote share to just under 19 per cent and gaining six new seats bringing the total number of Liberal Democrat MPs to 52.
We will be forming the effective opposition to the Government, challenging them to deliver their promises on hospitals, schools and pensions.
We will be holding them to account over civil liberties, particularly over jury trials and asylum.
We shall be persuading them to take the proper steps towards giving the British people their say over whether we should join the euro.
Locally, we will continue to campaign for an improved rail service and station facilities at Bromsgrove, the provision of sufficient school places and spending the money already earmarked for road repair on local roads.
MARGARET ROWLEY,
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman,
Bromsgrove
