We'll keep it short, but we want to maintain the awareness of just how annoyed residents of Throckmorton and Tilesford are.

Our property is less than 200 metres from the airfield boundary. It is closer to the burial cells than the temporary offices on the airfield from which the management of the site was organised. We are directly in the path of the prevailing winds. Several residents have written countless times to MAFF (as was) about sensible, practical, clear issues;

- impact on the lives and property of residents;

- reassurance that habitation is safe in the long term;

- how the site is to be managed and projections of that management

over the next 10 - 20 years;

- extra traffic;

- refurbishment of road surfaces;

- significant effects on the quality of life - the stench has been unbearable and this has and never been controlled effectively for more than a day or so at a time;

- future development of the site.

Not one direct response to any of those issues has been made. It is not unreasonable for us to expect to receive appropriate replies to our questions.

One of the major concerns was how the site would be managed once it has been "closed" to further burials. The answer is simple; there have been

significant defects in how the site is operating, leading to stories of animals popping out of the clay / soil covering, fluids from rotting corpses

finding routes into unfilled cells and not being washed down. In short the stench continues and ruins any thought of enjoying the summer weather (what there is of it) in the garden.

If this is how life is now, the thought of reopening "old wounds" does not bear thinking about. We are outraged that this could even be suggested

under these circumstances, especially when distances to be travelled from other areas would inevitably pose risks to farms and farmers.

Please add these to the comments of other residents as we will do anything possible to get the message across that Throckmorton Burial Site must not be re-opened.
