WORCESTERSHIRE County Cricket Club should, in my opinion, be made to pay back any subsidy or financial advice given to them by the English and Wales Cricket Board.

Why should spectators be expected to pay up to £11 for a ticket and be treated to Worcestershire fielding a half-strength side which as a consequence was pulverised by the Australians?

More to the point is that the home side's spineless performance hardly gives the national side the psychological boost it could with before the major Ashes series gets underway next month.

I was also appalled at the complete lack of stewarding and any police presence on the Saturday that I attended the match, which was probably a factor in giving some idiot just the encouragement he needed to remove his clothes in public and cavort naked around the boundary of the pitch.

The spectator should be entitled to an assurance of some welfare, safety and protection.

They should not have their dignity abused when paying good money to see any high-profile sporting event.

Still, I imagine the club's administrators won't have to concern themselves with any more matches this season that are likely to involve sell-out crowds.
