A SUPERB second round 67 put Evesham's Jeremy Robinson just five shots off the lead in the Compass Group English Open at the Forest of Arden club.
The Vale Golf Club member had a topsy-turvy round which included two bogeys but was sprinkled with a magnificent seven bir-dies.
Added to his first round 75, Robinson stood at two-under par 142.
Droitwich's John Bickerton missed the second round cut, however. He bounced back from a disastrous first round 79 to post a two under par 70 yesterday, but it was not enough to ensure playing the last two rounds.
Australian Adam Scott added a 70 to his opening 67 and at seven under par at halfway leads by one from South African Jean Hugo and by two from England's Justin Rose, Italian Massimo Scarpa and another Australian, Peter O'Malley.
Lee Westwood improved 10 shots on his opening 77 and cannot be discounted yet on level par.
