NEWTOWN finished their Mercian Elgar Under 12s Junior League campaign in dramatic style.

NEWTOWN SPORTS 5, LYPPARD RANGERS 2

The match saw two milestones being achieved with Adam Oakley scoring the team's 100th league goal of the season and David Reynolds reaching the 50 goal mark.

Newtown opened the scoring on five minutes when David Reynolds and Adam Oakley exchanged passes, which led to David Reynolds blasting home from inside the box.

Moments later Tom Ferguson hit the crossbar before feeding a brilliant through ball to David Reynolds whose shot was saved. Nearing half time Adam Oakley got Newtown's second goal of the game and Newtown's 100th league goal by lobbing the keeper.

John Davies came close but was luckless throughout the game but set up David Reynolds to score just before the break.

The second half started dramatically and Lyppard got two goals back within ten minutes but Newtown's battling spirit came out again and Lee Jenkins led the revival passing out to the wing for David Reynolds to drive in his 50th goal of the season from some 25 yards out.

It came as no surprise when again Reynolds was on target with a solo goal to finish off a brilliant season.

Man of the match was Tom Ferguson.
