NOTHING less than a victory would do for Malvern Wanderers to clinch the Mercian U12s league title, their second league title in succession.

EVESHAM UNITED 2, MALVERN WANDERERS 12

The pre-match nerves were soon settled as Michael Dicapita finished from a fine through ball from Matt Bayer after 30 seconds. Kris Denslow made it two minutes later with an unstoppable strike from 25 yards out and before long it was 3-0 as Gareth Atkinson unselfishly fed Michael Dicapita.

The striker's hat-trick was soon complete as Dicapita found the net from another Matt Bayer pass. Goal maker became goal taker as Matt Bayer unleashed a terrific free kick.

A pin point corner from Shaun Carrey found the head of Michael Dicapita who netted from closer range for number six. Kris Denslow then spotted the keeper off his line and finished emphatically, Michael Dicapita grabbed his fifth and a cool finish from Shaun Carrey took the visitors in at 9-0 at the interval.

A double hat-trick was completed seconds into the restart as Michael Dicapita capitalised on poor defending. Complacency and every player hoping to appear on the score sheet allowed the Evesham strikers to convert their two chances. Stephen Poole made it 11 minutes later to round off a fine four man move. Tom Chadney completed the rout with a clever finish from six yards out.

Man of the Match was Michael Dicapita.
