Confetti throwing at marriages, so far as the Priory Church is concerned, is doomed. When large quantities are showered upon bridal parties, it becomes a great nuisance about the porch and well-kept grounds of the church. The Vicar has in consequence given notice that the practice must be discontinued. Malvern Gazette, June 7, 1901.

Much interest was aroused in the sale of horses and cobs at the Plough Hotel Yard, Ledbury, on Monday last, when an officer of the Remount Department attended on behalf of the War Office to purchase horses and cobs "for immediate use in South Africa, for cavalry and mounted infantry'.

The latest design for a coat of arms for Malvern submitted by the Richmond Herald of the College of Arms, was accepted by the council at its meeting on Tuesday.

Amendments were that the pear tree should be the correct "Worcestershire Pear Tree" and the Lions should be the "Lygon Lions" as depicted on the Arms of the Earl Beauchamp. Malvern Gazette, June 8, 1951.

A 21-year-old cinema projectionist sent to gaol at Nottingham Quarter Sessions for five years was said to have posed as "Lord Ledbury" when he paid hotel bills and bought cars with cheques from a stolen cheque book. Ledbury Reporter, June 8, 1951.

A plan to set up an antique shop in the old telephone exchange in Colwall is to be recommended by the local council. The council recently abandoned a suggestion that it should buy the exchange and convert it either into a council meeting-place or a public lavatory. Malvern Gazette, June 10, 1976.

A fascinating insight into the history of churches in the Ledbury Rural District was provided at a one-day exhibition at St Katherine's Hall last week, as a contribution to the 13th Centenary celebration of the Herefordshire diocese.

The oldest record was a photostat reproduction from the Domesday Book of 1086, which listed "Ledeberge". Ledbury Reporter, June 10, 1976.
