D E Margrett must know that a lot of his statements are the opposite of the facts. His remark (You Say, May 30) that the Tories had more quangos than we have at present is laughable.

It was Maggie Thatcher who got rid of a lot of Labour's quangos and now they are back in force.

We have committees for everything you can think of. We also have a record number of spin doctors, advisers and extra Ministers such as Minister for Europe and Minister for Women.

There are so many that there's hardly a department in Whitehall that's not asked the builders for extra extensions to house them.

Administration costs to the taxpayer have gone up by millions of pounds under Blair's government.
