WE don't need another supermarket in St Johns but we do need one near the bus station.

Asda's offer to build one on the old cattle market should be allowed. It's ideal for the people who haven't got a car and would encourage people to use the park-and-ride buses.

It's hard work for older people to walk up to Sainsbury's by the Cathedral and then carry a week's shopping back to the bus station.

Maybe it would be a good idea for our city councillors to go without their cars and sample the everyday problems pensioners have to cope with before they cast a vote in respect of a new supermarket near the city centre.
