IN saying that the Labour giveaway at Christmas was worth sacrificing to retain our freedom, did Peter Alcock (You Say, June 2) know that his remark would have the reverse reaction to what he inferred?
In any case, the £200 heating allowance was stated by the Chancellor to be for last Christmas only. A lot of people missed that point.
Also, it was £100 per person. Compared with that, the Tory offer of a small pension increase every week continuously for each person would be more beneficial and we would still retain our freedom.
