PERSHORE Abbey is the venue for the latest concert from the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra tomorrow (Saturday).

The orchestra will be joined by Nicola Daw, on French horn, to perform Strauss' Horn Concerto in C minor, as well as the Fantasy Overture from Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet and Schubert's 9th Symphony.

Nicola lives in Worcester and is a member of the county's Instrumental Music Service. She trained at the Birmingham Conservatoire and combines her administrative career with musical performances with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Royal Ballet and the D'Oyly Carte. She has recently completed a tour with The British Rock Symphony, starring Roger Daltry, Alice Cooper and Paul Young.

The WSO comprises around 60 semi-professional and amateur players who rehearse weekly and present concerts by virtue of grants and sponsorship only. They are established as the orchestra in residence at University College Worcester and have benefited greatly from this alliance.

The concert is at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7, available from the verger.
