BARNARDS Green 1sts are still seeking their first league win of the season but a much improved performance almost saw them claim victory in a high scoring game against Cookley at North End Lane on Saturday.

BARNARDS GREEN v COOKLEY

Winning the toss Martin Heaton put the visitors in but Cookley made a good start with Harris (31) and Blakeley (25) putting on 58 runs for the first wicket.

Ian Scullion made the breakthrough when he bowled Blakeley and then had Harris smartly caught behind by Graham Glendenning. When Dixon (23) was run out it appeared the Green would continue to take wickets at regular intervals.

At this stage runs were coming at an alarming rate but the introduction of David Creese slowed the run rate down.

Shewry (72no) and Nicholls (67no) took the score to 251-3 at close.

The Green made a solid start with Jez Clarke (20) and Richard Williams (45) put on 54 for the first wicket. When Clarke was dismissed by Selleck, Phil Divito (56) added 52 runs but both got out when the Green were slowly getting closer to the visitor's total but from this point they lost wickets at regular intervals. David Creese (16) and Graham Glendenning (21no) put on 37 at the close to get two extra points for the Green. At close the Green were 202 off their 50 overs.

The Green wish to thank S Harris Heating for sponsoring the game.
