TALKS are being held over further road safety schemes in Malvern Link.
The Malvern Hills Highway Partnership unit has identified accident cluster sites around the town where safety schemes need to be introduced.
Traffic lights were recently installed at Link Top as part of this scheme and now new sites in Malvern Link have been given priority status.
These sites are next to the Co-op in Malvern Link and at the Pickersleigh Road junction with Pickersleigh Avenue.
John Wallace, from the highways unit, said the criteria for including sites on the priority list was three or more accidents in the past three years within a 50-metre road length.
"The option for the Pickersleigh road site is narrowing the junction as it comes into Pickersleigh Avenue just by the Morgan factory," he said.
"It's quite a wide, fast road and cyclists have been injured there so we want to slow the traffic down a little bit so that it doesn't swing round into that junction. Narrowing the road is our preferred option."
Mr Wallace said that the scheme outside the Co-op was necessary because pedestrians had been injured trying to cross the road at that point.
"There are various options. One possible option that we're trying to avoid is putting in a pedestrian crossing with further lights," he said.
They are looking at putting in an island but he said no details had been finalised as yet.
