THE Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter has picked up a national award in recognition of its sales success last year.

The Gazette & Reporter was awarded a certificate of merit for best sales performance by a weekly newspaper at the Newsquest Media Group awards.

The award was for best percentage increase in circulation during 2001, when the Gazette & Reporter's circulation jumped from 17,228 to 17,733 an increase of 3.9 per cent.

"The newspaper has jumped from 56 pages two years ago to 72 pages now, and we think it represents great value for money," said editor Nick Howells.

"A paper like ours depends on having a good relationship with its readers and it's only with your help that we are able to pack in so much of interest.

"We are delighted people continue to respond so positively and vote with their feet by buying more newspapers every week," he said.
