PLANS for a new workshop and storage building in Upton Backfields were approved this week. The application was identical to one granted in 1993, which had lapsed. The parish council objected, as did two neighbours, who said the building would spoil their views and the foundation work would damage nearby trees. But planning officers recommended approval and the district council's southern area planning committee agreed. Coun Mary Wilkinson said steps should be taken to protect the trees.
