CLEAN kitchens at a city high school have won its catering team a top health and safety award.
Catering manager Muriel Bell and her staff at Blessed Edward Oldcorne RC High School have picked up a Heartbeat Award for the cleanliness of their section and their healthy eating menus.
Pasta dishes, 90 different baguettes, home-made flans, rice dishes and fresh fruit salad impressed environmental inspectors, who scrutinised the schools' kitchens.
"We had to show them our menus and display healthy eating choices and the non-smoking areas," said Mrs Bell, who works for the Alliance & Partnership catering company.
"I'm really proud, and so are the other girls."
