WE were greeted by blue skies and 20 degrees as we arrived in Spain yesterday, a world away from the freezing, muddy conditions at Wakefield.

Most of the players looked as if they had just stumbled out of a night-club as they staggered onto the plane with Dave Sims probably the worst.

The big lock, who spends most weekends reaching the heights in the line-outs, is scared of flying and had to be drugged up before he got on the plane!

It struck me as I began packing - what a responsibility it is to have to look after the 32-man squad for a training camp in Malaga! However, when we got to the hotel it seemed well worth it. Our hotel is right on the coast-line and just to see the player's faces with the sunshine and the surroundings was fantastic.

We started with some team events and a handball competition. With the squad split into different teams, the DP's, led by Earl Va'a, finished last with Richard Denhardt's Chiefs pushing them into the wooden spoon position. Alistair Mur-doch's DX's looked good but too much arguing with an excellent referee saw Dave Fryday's Swingers take top spot.

The locals were then treated to a bench-pressing exhibition with Murdoch showing off his strength -- no-one could keep up with him!

The players are free to play whatever they want in their spare time but we will also train quite hard with Henley's game in mind. I laid down some ground rules and if players are late or wear the wrong uniform they can expect to be booked into an Old School training session at 7.15am.

Today we train on a pitch which actually needs watering! What a difference to Yorkshire where, 72 hours ago they were rolling about in the mud!
