HAT-TRICK hero Spencer Bromley admitted he fears the axe despite his stunning display in Worcester's 32-14 demolition of Bedford on Saturday.
The former Harlequins winger was the outstanding player on show for the National One leaders as he ran the relegation threatened side ragged with a pacy display.
Bromley was only in the Worcester side because of a last-minute injury to Scott Barrow and after his hat-trick kept his club on course for the league title, he revealed he does not expect to keep his place for Saturday's clash with Manchester.
He said: "You don't like to get in the side because someone has got injured but you've just got to take your opportunity when it comes.
"It's been a bit frustrating for me because I've obviously been in and out this season - I don't really know why - it's up to the coaches to pick the team, not me.
"The last game I played in, I scored a try and helped set one up and then I was out so I'm not expecting to be in the side on Saturday.
"It's not a case of me proving a point, I just want to do well for Worcester. I am obviously pleased with the hat-trick but I thought it was a very good team performance."
Bromley has suffered an up and down season since his summer arrival and has been vying with Nick Baxter and Ally McLean for the left-wing spot. However, the 31-year-old has consistently looked a threat when on the pitch and once again showed his class with a fine display of wing play.
Coach Adrian Skeggs was delighted with his winger and was relieved to get away from his former club with victory and a precious bonus point that keeps Worcester's title challenge on track.
He said: "Spencer is a class player but I expect that type of performance from him because he's played on bigger dancefloors than that.
"He's a great runner with the ball and he's always going to beat guys with his pace. That is a great example of a player that has taken his opportunity when it has come along."
He added: "It's been a positive performance from us today and I think we looked very dangerous in the first half. The second half was a disappointment though."
