WORCESTERSHIRE County Councillors have deferred a decision as to whether to allow a waste firm to delay filling a Hartlebury quarry.
Biffa has a licence to dump waste at the Whitlenge Lane quarry but will next month apply for a variation which will permit the disposal of special waste.
The move has angered hundreds of villagers and sparked the creation of an action group, HALT - Hartlebury Against Landfill Toxins.
Biffa wants to delay the start of dumping until September next year, which will mean the project is due to be completed in 2010.
The village's county councillor, Maurice Broomfield, and his colleagues on the planning committee will now make a site visit before making a decision.
