A CARPET industry labourer who had made several attempts to take his own life died after taking a large overdose of tablets, an inquest heard.

But David Turbutt, 53, of Abbey Road, Kidderminster, who was found dead at his home by his sister and brother-in-law, had given no indication he was at risk of harming himself.

Worcestershire coroner Victor Round said Mr Turbutt had taken an overdose of tablets on several occasions in the past but his mood appeared to have stabilized more recently.

He said Mr Turbutt, who was found on Tuesday, May 1, at 6.55pm, had given no indication he would injure himself when he visited his doctor on Monday, April 23.

He said while Mr Turbutt had appeared a little agitated, there was no suggestion he might injure himself.

Mr Turbutt was last seen alive on April 27 by his brother-in-law Anthony Guard who, with other members of the family, found the deceased when they visited his home.

He recorded a verdict that the deceased took his own life.
