WITH reference to your article, in May 31 Journal regarding a group of 'youngsters of to-day' causing the fury of some 'old fogies' of yesterday by skateboarding on the War Memorial in the High Street, Bidford.

Its very unlikely the young boarders even thought about their actions being disrespectful, more just thinking 'what a great piece of kerb in a smart location'. We ought to be asking why they don't have more suitable places for skateboarding? It seems to me that the 'problem' needs referring to a builder, rather than a policeman, whose likely to have more important issues on their mind then skateboarder prevention.

Come to think of it, if I had 'given' my life, in the Second World War, for my country and its future generations, I'd not be too displeased that my memorial had been designed in such a way that it was giving pleasure to and testing the skills and ingenuity of a new younger generation. What's needed is constructive mediation, not another war!
