MOTOR SPORT: Dunley's Elton Sheldon scored valuable points in the Volkswagen Racing Cup on Sunday when he contested the seventh and eighth rounds at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
Sheldon has now amassed a points tally of 66 to move into eighth place overall in Class A.
He qualified his Vento VR6 in fifth position on the grid - his best qualifying result of the season so far - and stormed to fourth in the day's opening race.
It could have been even better as Sheldon finished in the wheeltracks of third-placed man Len Simpson, of Hinckley.
But Sheldon was not to be denied his first podium placing of the season, sweeping past Simpson to claim third place at mid-distance in the next race.
Both races were won outright by the 2.8 New Beetle of Northants' driver Michael Neuhoff who moves into second place in the championship behind Hampshire's Phil Jeffery.
The next races in the series are at Snetterton, Norfolk, on August 12.
