AN ambulance crew chased off a gang after they launched a second unprovoked attack on two men who were walking home following a night out in Kidderminster.

One of the two victims, who were in their early 20s, was knocked unconscious in the initial assault by up to five men who leapt out of a white Vauxhall Nova.

The men had to be taken to hospital for treatment for severe cuts and bruises.

The first attack happened after the two men left the Tap House, in Worcester Street, on Sunday at 10.45pm.

As they were walking along New Road, near the Somerfield store, four or five men got out of a Nova and began punching and kicking the two victims, for no apparent reason.

One of the men was temporarily knocked unconscious in the assault.

The attackers then got back in the car and drove off.

The two men continued walking home, towards Brinton Park, but as they reached the Stourport Road and Park Lane junction, the car re-appeared and the occupants got out and began assaulting the men again.

An ambulance crew, which was en-route elsewhere, saw what was happening, stopped and chased the attackers.

One man ran away and at least three others drove off.

The victims sustained severe cuts and bruises to their faces and had to be taken to Ronkswood Hospital, Worcester, for treatment.

The attackers are described as white males in their early to mid-20s with local accents.

In a separate incident, a 17-year-old man suffered facial injuries in a serious unprovoked attack by two men in the town centre.

The assault happened minutes after midnight on Saturday, May 26, in Blackwell Street, opposite Time nightclub.

The victim was taken to Ronkswood Hospital for treatment and was discharged the following morning.

However, he will need further specialist treatment for the injuries he received.

Anyone with information about either attack should call Kidderminster Police on 01562 820888.
