FRESH complaints have been levelled at Cosworth Technology about smells from its factory in Worcester.

Warndon Parish Council member Yvonne Griffiths said she had found the stench particularly unpleasant this week.

"On Sunday it was pretty unbearable but today it was even worse," she told colleagues at a meeting on Monday night.

"The smell is as bad as it was two years ago. Whether it's the warm weather or that the doors at Cosworth were left open, I don't know."

She described the smell as similar to that coming from a foundry.

The parish clerk, Les Bishop, confirmed he had noticed the smell, which he called "pungent".

Parish council member Frank Laurellio suggested the lack of wind at the beginning of this week had contributed to the problem.

But the parish council paid tribute to Cosworth Technology for making moves, in the past, to respond to complaints, such as changing the solvents used and putting in a new chimney.

No one was available for comment on behalf of Cosworth Technology today.
