THE controversy over whether Redditch taxi drivers can talk about sex, religion or politics to passengers was re-ignited when one of the Tory big guns dropped in on the election trail.

Shadow Home Secretary Anne Widdecombe was in town with Tory candidate Karen Lumley on Friday to talk to drivers herself.

The debate was sparked in December 1999 when Redditch Council introduced a voluntary code of conduct for drivers to sign.
