A PUBLIC inquiry into controversial plans to build a 400-house estate in the Stoke Prior green belt will take place next month.
Bromsgrove District Council will defend its decision not to include the site in the Local Plan against an appeal by developers Bellway to be heard on July 18 and 19.
When the development was proposed last year, it provoked a public outcry as residents drew up petitions and held demonstrations calling on the council to preserve the character of the village.
Members of the public can attend the inquiry at the Council House in Burcot Lane, but they will not be able to contribute evidence.
The site has attracted developers for over 20 years, when there was an earlier development was halted by a public inquiry.
