MATTHEW Jenkins scored both goals as Wychbold RBL won the town's Minor Charity Cup in a 2-0 victory over Bromsgrove league opponents Access Security Athletic on Sunday.

Jenkins's brace completed a fantastic season for the striker, who scored 37 goals this season and scooped five awards at the club's end-of-season presentation night on Saturday.

These included first team player of the year, committee's player of the year/first team, first team man of the match, manager's player of the year/first team and highest goal scorer/first team.

And there could be more celebrations if Wychbold -- who finished runners-up in Redditch and South Warwickshire Combination Division One -- are voted back into the Premier Division at the league AGM on Tuesday June 26.

RBL have to apply for Premier Division status in front of Premier club officials and management committee members.

They now have to convince the league's top brass their ground and playing staff is up to competing with the likes of Garringtons Sunday, Black Horse and Hymatic/Allendale.

In Sunday's final, RBL eventually overwhelmed a young Access side who were stopped in their tracks by RBL's defence of Darren Maycroft and Martin Caines, with Jason Talbot backing them up.

Solid

Bob Coy was just as solid in the Access defence and no-one could break the deadlock until Jenkins picked up the ball on the right wing from a superb pass by man of the match Andy Crowther. He went on to score an unstoppable goal from a narrow angle after 39 minutes.

On 70 minutes goal king Jenkins broke through to double RBL's lead with a neat finish to secure the trophy.

l Further awards from RBL's presentation night were: reserve team player of the year and committee player of the year/reserves: David Riordan; Reserve team man of the match: Scott Weatherby; Club person of the year: Darren Maycroft; Manager's player of the year/reserves: Ross Rooke; Highest goal scorer/reserve team: Dean Maycroft: 22.

Martin Caines and Alan Brown were given life memberships. Martin has given 24 years service to the club and still plays, while Alan is currently secretary and treasurer, having spent 35 years with the club.

Thanks also go to Viv Gordon for her refreshments, Betty Colley for washing the kits and the back room staff of Gary Bowen, Ross Rooke, Les Colley, John Riordan, Richy Stormes, Andy Bennett and fund-raiser Oliver Caines. The reserve team were applauded for reaching the final of the Ken Parfitt Cup.
