THE Mayor of Alcester has renewed her campaign for a sub-post office in the town.
Wendy eatherhead acted after pensioners arrived at the High Street main office to find it closed.
She said many of Alcester's elderly folk were still having to fork out for a taxi every time they needed to get anything from a post office.
Mrs Weatherhead has campaigned to have a sub-post office built in Hopkins Precinct for several years but objectors have said this would be too near to the existing office.
Alcester post office was closed for the first part of the Wednesday morning while MEB did work inside the building.
A spokesman said notification of the late opening had been put up in advance.
