MORE than 40 per cent of all crimes committed in the north east of Redditch since April have been solved after a police station opened up in the area, writes Becky Procter.
Officers moved in to a station based above the neighbourhood office in Winyates Centre at the beginning of April.
And since being there, officers have noticed a marked increase in the detection of crime in Church Hill, Winyates and Matchborough.
Historically, Winyates Centre has had problems with anti-social behaviour, spitting and swearing from gangs of youths gathering there.
But during the station's first weekend of opening there was a marked difference with no gangs and no problems.
