MATCH results this week begin with the Furnace Mill two day festival over Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, both days fished on the Furnace and Mucky Meadow Pools. Top rod on Sunday was Paul Cook (Furnace Mill) who pole fished maggots at Mucky peg 31 for 52-0-0 of bream and carp. Second Richard Evans (MN Autos) 44-4-0, third Sean Moss (Viper AC) 31-2-0.

Richard Noakes (Fosters Tipton) headed Monday's score sheet with 41-0-0 of carp taken with pole fished worms at Mucky peg 32. Second Tim Jones (Squirrel AC) 28-12-0, third Jez Williams (Strettons) 28-0-0.

Festival winner was Paul Cook with ten points (72-9-0), second Richard Noakes ten points (71-4-0), third Richard Evans nine points.

Moorlands Farm's Land A Grand open saw fishery regular Chris Hill (Fosters MG) win the top £1,000 prize by pole fishing casters and corn up in the water at Meadow Pool peg 58 for 61-15-0. His team mate Lee Richards followed with 52-12-0, third Mike Edge (Strike) 44-13-0.

The Woodlands View Arles Pool open was a close event with winner Les Thompson (Baitmaster) just topping the ton with 100-12-0 of carp by pole fishing corn and meat. Second Tony Holmes (Slapheads) 98-2-0, third Mick Jones (Slapheads) 91-10-0.

Woodlands View's Tuesday Affordable open was won by Adam Toll (WMP Fosters) with an 84-9-0 catch with pole and corn from the margins of Deans Pool peg 64. Second Pete Willis (Storey's) 65-8-0, third Andy Newton (DC Lifestyle) 58-15-0.

The Starlets Veterans fished their weekly event at Elmbridge's Heron Pool with Brian Hill (Bewdley) taking a close verdict by pole fishing casters and maggots at peg six for 28-10-0. Harold Willey (Bewdley) was just three ounces adrift with 28-7-0, third Ken Giles (Alvechurch) 27-15-0.

On Wednesday the Astwood Fisheries Bluebell Pool open saw Bromsgrove's Paul Webley continue his good form by waggler fishing meat up in the water at peg seven for a top catch 29-7-0. Second Barry Jones (Weoley Castle) 25-4-0, third Paul Woodfield (Boars Head) 25-2-0.

Andy Newton (DC Lifestyle) had a double victory at Moorlands Farm. First he won the daytime Meadow Pool open with a pole and corn catch of 65-0-0 from peg 45. Second Jim Thomas (Moorlands) 55-11-0, third Ralph Baxter (Gloucs) 49-6-0. Andy Newton went on to take 82-13-0 in the three hour evening event from Meadow peg 55. Mark Hughes (Strike) followed with 67-4-0, third Bernard Hislop (Ripon) 44-6-0.

Woodlands View's Deans Pool open was won by Mark Westwood (Woodlands) from peg 35 by pole fishing meat in the margins for 87-2-0. Second Nick Archer (Broad Acres MG) 73-3-0, third Vince Gandley (Shakespeare) 70-5-0.

On Saturday the Woodlands View Spring League final saw Tony Holmes (Slapheads) continue his good form at the venue by taking the top individual score of 91-14-0 by pole fishing corn and meat at Deans Pool peg 60. His team mate Lee Ripper followed with 78-10-0, third Norman Carpenter (MAP Starlets B) 48-6-0. Slapheads topped the day's points list with 69, second Shakespeare 65, third All Stars 53. Overall Slapheads are champions with 357, Shakespeare 335 and Preston Innovations 317.

Bromsgrove's Tony Delves (Ovation Leisure) topped Sunday's Ovation Leisure open at Lower Broadheath's Ash Pool, fishing short pole over chopped worms, he put 40-13-0 of carp on the scales to beat Mick Trueman (Avenue Social) into second place with 28-14-0, third yours truly Tony Brunn (Ovation Leisure) 22-14-0.

At Astwood Fisheries, the Bluebell Pool open was won by Dean Moore (Wylde Green) with a pole and corn catch of 24-5-0 from peg 17. Second Paul Webley (Kateshill AC) 16-4-0, third Jim Woods (Weoley Castle) 15-5-0. Wyre Forest Fishery Furnace Mill held its event on the Mucky Meadow Pool with first place going to Paul Gregory (Swan AC), with a pole and corn carp catch of 64-10-0 from peg 38. Second John Golding (Viper AC) 54-12-0, third Sean Moss (Viper AC) 51-12-0.

At Woodlands View 110 anglers lined the banks of all the pools for the daytime open, with Mark Lucas (Ted Carters) in top spot with a pole and worm catch of 74-0-4 from Deans peg eight. Second Dave Harris (Lobbey's Tackle) 64-4-0, third Des Shipp (Daiwa Dorking) 61-11-0.

Leading weights

The evening open was held on Deans and High Pools but it was High Pool that produced all the leading weights, headed by Gary Pook (Daiwa Dorking) by pole fishing corn and casters at peg eight for 67-3-0. Second Alan Lloyd (PA Megabait) 54-9-0, third Kevin Slade (Atlas of Kingsbury) 49-10-0.

Moorlands Farm's Meadow Pool open was won by Brian Hill (Warley) with a pole and meat catch of 38-14-0 from peg 26. Second Paul Ainsworth (Mid City) 37-3-0, joint third Pete Cartwright (Bore Steel) and Carl Astbury (Beechdale) both 33-7-0.

The three hour evening open was also fished on the Meadow Pool with Neil Plumb (West Mids) romping to victory with 98-4-0, taken with pole and corn from peg 50. Second Pete Davis (Storey's) 45-0-0, third Bob Jones (Moorlands) 39-8-0.

The £36,000 Jack Purchase, Moorlands Farm, Hallcroft Ultimate Individual League Final saw Halesowen's Grant Albutt (Daiwa Dorking) take the top £10,000 prize with a two day, three four hour match maximum points three (59-12-0) over the weekend at Hallcroft, Notts. Andy Whitehouse also had three points but on weight (37-14-0) had to settle for second and £4,000. Jamie Masson (Jack Purchase) was third on four points (59-10-0) and John Mottershead (Moorlands) fourth four points (54-8-0).

The 2002 Ultimate League gets underway immediately and has a prize fund of £36,000, with the final being held at Moorlands Farm in June.
