ALCESTER & Ragley visited Ashton and, after being put in bat on a green wicket, the Ashton opening pair, Archer and Cooper, gave their side a good start with an opening stand of 62.

The Ashton middle order was tied down by excellent bowling from Mark Bennett (5-22) and Mark Woolley (2-18) and the hosts closed on 153-9.

This looked a big total when Mark Fawthrop and Nick Chadbourne were out for ducks, but Gary Strain (32) and Shaun Quirke put on 62 for the third wicket.

Quirke, with help from the Alcester middle order, notably Mark Woolley (17), carried on to make 71 not out as Alcester romped to a five wicket victory.
