ALCESTER and Ragley Park are set to ask opponents to start matches three hours early because of foot and mouth restrictions at their Ragley Park home.

Alcester have been unable to hold matches at the venue because of the closure of the stately home.

Mark Fawthrop's table-topping side return to Ragley Park for the visit of Stratford Bards a week on Saturday but have to be out of the grounds by 6pm because of continuing restrictions.

The constraints have forced the club to start home games at 11am rather than 2pm and the loss of bar revenue will hit the club still further after having to pay for temporary venues for their opening home fixtures.

Despite the problems Alcester confirmed their position at the top of the Cotswold One with a comfortable five wicket win over Ashton-under-Hill on Saturday.

The Alcester captain welcomes back Sri Lankan quickie Dillon Fernando and all-rounder Keith Beasley for the trip to mid-table Stratford on Saturday (2pm start).
