I WAS appalled to read the reported comments of John Fraser, manager of the Highways Partnership, that the chicanes at Fairfield looked fine on paper but after complaints from villagers regarding safety, he decided to scrap the scheme.
No mention was made as to the cost of the work already carried out or the rectification costs.
It does not take an Einstein to realise that the project could have been observed in Fairfield, prior to commencing actual work, by placing road cones at the positions involved.
Where possible, a mock layout was common practice when I was at work.
Perhaps Mr Fraser should pay for the costly blunder out of his salary which I am sure is much more than my pension out of which I pay Council Tax.
That tax I guess will be the source of the money for rectification work to correct his blunder.
