REDDITCH captain Guy Muspratt this week played down the importance of tonight's trip to Birmingham Senior One rivals Bromsgrove.

The Senior Two West side have the chance of a scalp in the Birmingham Senior Knockout Cup tonight (6.30pm start) after beating neighbours Studley in the first round.

The evening match has caused problems for Redditch who are missing a handful of regulars.

All rounder Jeff Russell is ruled out by a groin injury and spinner Nev Mason and wicketkeeper Ian Phelan are missing with work commitments.

There is a doubt over holidaying batsman Chris Gibson and Muspratt is set to play despite a muscle injury which will prevent him bowling and could see him behind the stumps.

Teenage all rounders Alan White and Richard Young could get their chance.

Muspratt is hoping Gibson will be back for the visit of Penn in the league on Saturday to reunite last year's opening partnership with the prolific Dan Protherough who announced his return from a broken thumb with 147 against Pelsall seconds on Saturday.

Russell is hoping to return and Mason and Phelan will be available.
