Turnpole can roll back the years and strike for his in-form stable in the Leahurst Showcase Handicap at Haydock Park tomorrow.

The 10-year-old looked as good as ever on his only outing so far this season, when chasing home Lemon Bridge at York's Dante meeting in a 13-furlong handicap.

That effort was particularly laudable given that it was over a trip well on the short side for him and this return to two miles can bring about further improvement.

Though a high-class hurdler, Turnpole's finest moment came when he won the 31-runner Tote Cesarewitch in 1997 under Lyndsay Charnock.

At his peak he had a handicap mark in the high 80s and racing here off 77, he also looks well treated.

With the fast ground no problem, Turnpole looks to have everything in hisfavour, especially given that trainer Mary Reveley is sending out winners left, right and centre.

Late-maturing Takamaka Bay looks poised for a successful reappearance in the Angel Handicap.

Unraced as a juvenile, he showed useful form in each of just three starts as a three-year-old for Mark Johnston last season and ran away with an uncompetitive maiden at Ayr on his final outing.

The colt is likely to improve again this term, which he starts on a favourable mark in the handicap.

Prairie Wolf looks the best bet at Folkestone in the Sandgate Classified Stakes.

Because of his high rating, Michael Bell's charge has to compete at the best handicaps where he tends to run well without winning.

But this classified contest, restricted to horses rated 0-90, fits the bill perfectly for Prairie Wolf who is rated exactly on the ceiling for the race.

In his career, Prairie Wolf has raced in three of these 0-90 contests, finishing first, second and third. He looks a solid bet.
